UBO®

About UBO

UBO tyres are solid & hot retreaded tires made in The Netherlands since 1960. We combine current and proven profiles with quality rubber compounds making these the smart circular tyre choice. A direct benefit of Retreading is the decrease in the consumption of raw materials and emissions occuring during the production process. The latter is identical to the final production stage of a new tyre, as the tread is formed in a mold where a combination of high pressure, heat, and time completes the final vulcanization process. Since 1960, the UBO retreading activities have kept approximately 900,000 tires out of the waste stream. Furthermore, the UBO retreading process uses 70% less oil when producing a single tyre compared to a new one. This has resulted in the saving of more than 45,000,000 Litres of oil. And this number does even reflect the financial benefits of equiping fleets with UBO retreads.

  • Reduces noise and inconsistent wear
  • Cost-efficient with excellent mileage

Our production process

Learn more about our production process below. Our factories work with best-in-class industry standards that enable the production of safe and performing tyres. Our processes have been secured and perfected through decades of experience.

Step 1

marangoni-step1

We conduct a first inspection to evaluate the current state of the tyre and grade it.

Step 2

marangoni-step2

The tyre is stripped of the old tread through a buffing process. A rough and even bottom layer remains.

Step 3

marangoni-step3

We conduct a second inspection, as the bottom layer has become visible. Any inconsistencies can be fixed.

Step 4

marangoni-step4

An automatic coating machine places a correct amount of uncured rubber on the roughened tire.

Step 5

marangoni-step5

The profile is created by pressing the tyre into a pre-formed mould. Time, pressure, and temperature ensures the vulcanisation of the rubber.

Step 6

marangoni-step6

After the process the tire is visually inspected by an expert and subjected to a pressure test.

Our mission is to transform the linear tyre industry into a circular one. To make an impact on the world, one tyre at the time.
