Every year over a billion end-of-life tyres (E.L.T.) are generated worldwide. Disposing of these tyres in an environmentally sound and productive manner is a high priority goal of the global tyre business. Various regional initiatives have been launched to address this issue supported by government authorities, individual tire manufacturers, and the broader tyre industry. So far, this has resulted unsuccessfully.
