Companies and individuals have to set their best foot forward to tackle the tyre industry driven pollution, land destruction and waste. The production of tyres is a pillar to the modern economy. It ensures transport for both personal and company usage, it supports the needs of a modern civilisation and enables the world to operate at a faster pace.
This being said, the tyre lifecycle has not been optimised to the fullest extent. Constantly producing new tyres results in the following:
1. High CO2 emissions
2. High levels of water & energy consumption
3. Constant land use and soil pollution
4. High levels of natural rubber usage
5. High levels of diverted waste
Every year over a billion end-of-life tyres (E.L.T.) are generated worldwide. Disposing of these tyres in an environmentally sound and productive manner is a high priority goal of the global tyre business. Various regional initiatives have been launched to address this issue supported by government authorities, individual tire manufacturers, and the broader tyre industry. So far, this has resulted unsuccessfully.
The Kargro Group’s circular model has been impact-driven from the start. By enabling the group’s companies to take on the emissions and waste produced by E.L.T.s, the group has established best-in-class techniques and innovations that maximize the value retained on tires and minimize their environmental impact. It has proven that even when resale or retread is not an option, recycling is. And through this recycling, high-quality raw materials can be obtained to produce new tires, powder coatings, tinctures, infills, steel, and many other applications.
