UBO Factory Shuts Down Permanently

A Legacy of Innovation and Sustainability.

End of an Era.

On December 31, 2024, we permanently closed our tire retreading factory, UBO, nearly 88 years after its founding. The closure was caused by high energy costs, difficulty in finding technical staff, and the dumping of cheap truck tires from the Far East, which disrupted the local market.

Nevertheless, the legacy of the UBO factory (Utrecht Tire Company) remains a source of inspiration for the tire industry. The innovations in sustainability and technology that were once implemented in the factory continue to make a positive contribution to the industry. The focus on tire reuse and recycling, along with the ongoing search for sustainable solutions, will continue to inspire.
